Seven Questions with Angelle Trieste

Originally posted on e-Spot in October 2008.

Angelle Trieste writes contemporary romance. A former management consultant, she has lived in four different countries and speaks 2.5 languages. Devil Falls is her debut title from Samhain.

What’s one thing (besides writing) that you enjoy doing?

I enjoy reading old Chinese historical novels and legends translated into Korean. I read Korean fluently (actually better than English). I also love trying out new recipes, etc. I usually don’t make my own recipes because I’m not that good of a cook, but I usually modify them slightly since I like my food spicy.

What’s your favorite quote?

“You’re too smart to be a writer!”

My mom told me that when I quit my “real” job to be a writer. I think she was worried about my future, especially since she understood the kind of lifestyle many writers have. (We have a poet in the family.) But now she’s one of my staunchest supporters.

What television show best describes your life and why?

Oh boy! This is a very difficult question. I don’t watch TV shows, not really anyway, now that I’m in Asia.

But if you ask me which TV show I want my life to emulate, I’d say Buffy the Vampire Slayer, with me as Buffy. Yes, my geekiness is showing. ;)

What is your most valued possession?

I’d like to say Hero Material, who has been incredibly supportive of my writing, read everything I’ve written and provided valuable feedback. However, I think he’ll object to being called a “possession”. LOL.

Hero Material says: No problemo.

So I’ll say my laptop. Without it, I can’t get anything done — writing, keeping touch with family and friends in the States, nothing.

What would your best friend say about you?

My best friend would say that I’m very loyal. People talk a lot about trust, but I don’t think it’s possible without loyalty and honesty as a foundation.

What does love mean to you?

Compromise.

I know it sounds odd, but love really is all about learning how to give and take because the initial sexual attraction can keep two people together for only so long. This is when shared common values come into play. If both people have similar outlooks on life and where they want to go, they’ll have a better and more fulfilling relationship.

What is your favorite outfit to wear and why?

UnderArmour shirts and pants. They’re so comfy to write in. :)

All he wants is silence. All she wants are answers.

Damien Kirk was once a world-renowned cellist, celebrated across five continents for his musical gift. Now he lives in self-imposed isolation on a small Caribbean island.

Biography writer Victoria Benedict is looking for a story…and she’s not the type to take no for an answer. Her appearance on his doorstep shatters his reclusive existence.

Determined to be rid of her, Damien demands a quid pro quo: a kiss for each answer to her interview questions. Her response is as arousing as it is unexpected. As Damien and Victoria escalate their sensual game of cat and mouse, Victoria discovers the passionate soul underneath Damien’s cold exterior…and a shocking story of secrets and betrayal.

BTW — if anyone has any questions for me, feel free to leave comments. I’ll check back and answer as many as I can.

And Shelia, thank you for having me on your blog.
