Recently Larissa Ione got emails from people telling her how much they hate her, blah blah blah, because the illegal copies of her books they downloaded infected their computers with a nasty virus. Seriously, what's up with the sense of entitlement? How can they steal from her then get mad that things went wrong? (Because downloading illegal copies = stealing, you know.)
Don't like worm- and virus-laden ebooks? I've got a nutty idea: buy a legit copy from places like FictionWise, BooksOnBoard, Amazon, Sony eBook store, etc.
Sheesh.

I wonder if somebody has been smart enough to try that.
All I can say is:
I find it really ironic that someone who is stealing a copy of a book then blames the author for a virus. Why don't they look at where they got the book from in the first place? Would have been a lot cheaper to buy it legally in the long run.
I wish I had the know-how to create a virus-laden pirate copy of my books, but sadly I don't. Hate to tell these pirates, but it was their fellow pirates that infected the files and them, not the author.

Ha ha, that is funny. I can't believe how entitled these thieves think they are. I would love to know how they would feel if I walked into their places of employment and helped myself to a few of their hard-earned dollars on payday. It's the same exact thing.
Too freaking funny! It's about time that they get theirs! All I can say is, good for you! Maybe if the risk of getting a computer virus is present, then they would stop stealing. It seems like people need a little incentive to be honest.
Annie,
Isn't it sad though that they need the threat of virus infection to be semi-honest? *shaking head*
Ha hahhaa. They are not even aware that their complaints are seen as an admission that they are nothing but thieves.
I think it's awesome. I also can't believe the utter audacity the thief had emailing the author to tell her in no uncertain terms - Look what happened when I tried to steal your book!
. It really shouldn't amaze me how blatantly stupid some people are.
Dude. That's like trying to a sue a company for an injury you got while breaking into their building.
I don't think there IS an emoticon for the level of "dumbass" covered here.
Amazing how it's the author's fault because someone got punished for stealing.
Iwas suggesting this all along, but I along with Cat didn't know where to start. A few more of these would give thieves pause for thought. Might even stop the thievery all together.
Stupid people of the world unite!
Someone, somewhere will come up with a warning lable to be placed on ebooks now, just like coffee cups, fan belts and curling irons.
Warring downloading this book illegally might cause serious harm to your computer...use caution.
What will they come up with next????
Thanks for the laugh.
Amanda
Sounds like what goes around comes around - finally!
It's actually a little hard to tell whether the pirates have an enormous amount of daring and chutzpah...or are really just that spoiled and stupid.
Yay!!!
Karma at work. And I hope it keeps on working.
If any idiot actually e-mailed me over a virus they got stealing one of my books, I can guarantee they wouldn't like my response.
Let's just hope this illegal act (deliberately posting viruses online is illegal) doesn't get her arrested.
If you're saying that Larissa posted viruses herself, you're mistaken. When you illegally download something from sites that offer pirated goods, you're most likely to get something nasty. A lot of hackers and worm-makers use such sites to infect other people's computers that way.
This is not Larissa's fault that the people downloaded virus-laden ebooks illegally. After all, it's a theft.
But I do hope that the police, etc. go after the pirates for posting viruses and stealing.
Wow! That takes the cake! Nasty emails to the person you're stealing from. ~shakes head~ Clearly, they did not put together all the puzzle pieces there.
Karma indeed.
It boggles the mind.
