One More Picture

Someone told me it was silly to post wedding photos without the bride and groom in them. Unfortunately we haven't gotten any until now. It's a snap shot taken with a cell phone by one of our guests. You can see me feeding Hero Material some of our delish cake.

FYI — the dress in the picture is not the wedding dress I wore to the actual ceremony. I had to change because the wedding dress had a huge train, and there was no way I could do anything without two people hovering around me to take care of the danged thing. (It was heavy too.)

More stories to come…! (When I'm more lucid.)

bride and groom

ETA: Kumi Lipman from Cleo did my hair and makeup. I can't even begin to describe how much I adore her.

Edie – Thanks! Yes, I had two dresses. Many brides here get about 4 or so, but I didn’t want to spend that much money on renting dresses. (They’re hideously expensive!)

    Lissa – Thank you!

Edie – I know! I couldn’t believe the dress rental clerk asked me how many I wanted. They also had ceremonial kimonos available too.

Debb – LOL. Yes, he is real.

DD – Thank you! The white/blue one was fairly manageable, although I couldn’t sit without some help. The wedding dress was impossible.

I didn’t go to the bathroom for about five hours that day. I was totally dehydrated after the reception, and Kumi (my stylist & friend) had her hubby bring me some water after I was out of the dress.

Two dresses… how fun is that? I could have used that plan as my dress was a bit on the awkward side (especially when I needed to use the restroom – try getting three women in a stall to hold up my dress…LOL)

And you look beautiful btw! So happy for you. :)

I was going to say, do we get to see Hero Material? For a picture from a cell phone cam, that’s absolutely stunning. You really do look like Cinderella in her ballgown.

OMG, the dress in that picture is GORGEOUS! So in Japan, you don’t buy your dress, you rent them? Hmmmm. I like the fact that my dress is mine, but on the other hand, it was $1500 for something I wore ONCE.

Jennifer – Thank you! Uehara had some fabulous dresses.

    Charlotte – Thank you!

Chelle – Thank you! Everyone seems interested in Hero Material (and his existence).

    Leah – Thank you. *hugs*

Hi Silke – Thanks for stopping by! We’re very happy. Hamsters are doing very well too. Our sick hamster recovered on his own.

Jeannie – LOL. Thank you. The photographer was excellent, and most Japanese cell phone cams are very good.

Tera – Thank you! We don’t uually buy wedding dresses in Japan because they’re way too expensive, and we have no place to store them. I think I paid like $1,500 per dress (rental), but they all came with their own matching accessories (you can choose though) including clip-on earrings, necklace, gloves, tiara / flowers and shoes. You just need to bring your own bustier, stockings, etc. They also allow you to do multiple fittings, etc. to ensure that you’re happy with your selection, so I was pleased with my experience. (Also they keep their dresses very very clean. I’ve never seen anything dirty in this country! You can use Narita’s JAL & ANA check-in counters as ORs because they’re just that clean.)

    Natasha – Thank you!
