Ah…The Boy

Not Coming Out

Today is my official due date, but it's already 8:00 p.m. and the Boy shows no sign of coming out.

This comes after the preterm labor scare / talk on March 8, which totally freaked me out. The doctor prescribed some medicine to prevent contractions, put me on a modified bed rest until I hit at least Week 32, and told me to relax and take it easy for the baby's sake. I couldn't even ride my bike anymore (which I liked doing from time to time to go grocery shopping or meet friends, etc.). He said if things looked worse, I'd have to be hospitalized. That totally wasn't what I wanted, so I did as he asked.

Now that I've hit the full forty weeks, the irony of the situation isn't lost on me. Hero Material told me it's because I followed the doctor's instructions well, so I shouldn't be too unhappy. Sweetly enough, he regularly rubs my back. (The PT sessions I get just aren't enough.) He even offered to rub my back last night at around 5 a.m. because I kept turning to find a comfortable position.

I can totally sympathize with women who told me they were more than ready to perform C-sections on themselves. I actually suggested that, and Hero Material said, “Umm…a kitchen knife may not be the best idea…Here, let me rub your back, how about that?”

I'm seeing my doctor tomorrow morning. Hopefully he'll tell me something good…like, “Hey, the Boy's ready to come out now!”

Aww…so the contractions weren’t the real deal yesterday?

Sis would empathize with you. Her Peregrine was also a bit too comfy right where he was.

:-( I know you’re ready for him to come out! I’m very jealous your husband offers to rub your back! I ask my hubby to rub my legs (which hurt so much!) or my back occasionally, but feel like it’s such a hassle for him.

You get PT? Is that normal in Japan?

LMAO Nadia! Good you have such a devoted husband as HM to rub your back (though you must scare him a bit and labour hasn’t even started yet! ;) lol)

Crossing my fingers that Baby Boy feels like it’s time he came out to see the sunshine and grace the world with his presence :p

@Jeannie Lin: Alas, no. I’ve been having a lot of those in the last 5-6 days, so I’m a bit pessimistic LOL. Was her baby very late? My doctor said he’d induce if the Boy’s one week late.

@Sandy Williams: I’m sorry to hear about your hubby not being cooperative enough. Maybe you should tell him to emulate Hero Material?

PT is not normal per se, but if you want, you can get it. It’s not like they can say no to you. I’ve been doing PT for over 2 years now because of my crappy back, and the insurance here covers it. I really like my therapist because he’s really good at what he does. But he can do so much when I’m pregnant, heavy and my joints are all loose and messed up.

    @Savannah Chase: Thank you! :)

@Dionne: He’s usually very active. I hope he decides to come out soon.

@caroline A./ pattepoilue: LOL. I don’t blame her. It gets very uncomfortable!

@Stella (Ex Libris): Yes, I’m very lucky. HM is very good about trying to make me feel better b/c he knows I feel terrible usually. (And often tired & sleepy)

Yes, I can’t wait until he comes out. I may post a pic or two on the blog when I’m lucid, postpartum.
